Learn Synths: Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
PDS Technology Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the Learn Synths iOS app (“Learn Synths”, “the app”) and its Audio Unit plug-ins handle your information. In short: Learn Synths collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party code of any kind, and the only network requests it makes are to Apple, for the App Store purchase and for your own iCloud. We are a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16504157), with our registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.
Information we collect
We collect no personal data through the app. Learn Synths has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server operated by us. Your lesson progress, quiz scores, saved presets and recorded or imported sounds live on your device and in your own iCloud, and are never sent to PDS Technology Ltd. We have no access to any of them. The App Store privacy label for the app is “Data Not Collected”.
The app never fetches lessons, sounds or anything else from the internet. Every lesson, study, tour and challenge ships inside the app and works offline.
iCloud sync
Lesson progress, quiz scores and saved presets are mirrored to iCloud key-value storage under your own Apple Account, so they follow you to your other devices with no account to make. Recorded and imported sounds are kept on the device, and are placed in your own iCloud Drive only if you turn “Sync saved sounds with iCloud” on in Settings, which is off by default. This is Apple’s service, governed by Apple’s privacy policy; PDS Technology Ltd has no access to your iCloud data.
Microphone
The app asks for microphone access only when you choose to record a sound in the sampler. What you record is stored on the device (and in your iCloud Drive only if you have switched that on) and is never sent to us. The microphone is not used at any other time.
Bluetooth and local network
Bluetooth is used only to pair wireless MIDI keyboards and controllers, through the system’s own pairing sheet. The local network is used only to find computers offering MIDI over Wi-Fi, so that a DAW on the same network can play the app. Nothing about your network or nearby devices is recorded, and nothing is sent anywhere else.
The Full Course purchase
The app offers one in-app purchase, the Full Course, which is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no personal details, payment information or contact details from it. Restoring the purchase on another device, Ask to Buy approvals and refunds are all handled by Apple. The plug-ins read the unlock state from a container shared with the app on your device; nothing leaves it.
Analytics and tracking
Learn Synths contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies, and we do not build any profile of you or how you learn. Nothing is sold, shared or used for tracking.
Contacting support
Contact and Report a bug in the app’s About screen open a pre-filled email to support@pds-technology.ltd containing the app version and your device model. You see it and send it yourself. If you email us, we will receive your email address and whatever you include, and we use that solely to respond to you. We do not use it for marketing or share it with third parties.
Legal basis and your rights
Because the app does not collect personal data, there is normally no personal data for us to hold. Where we do process limited information, for example support correspondence you send us, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry, in line with UK data protection law.
Under UK data protection law you have rights over any personal data we hold about you, including the right to access, correct, or erase it. To exercise these rights, or if you have any concerns, contact us at support@pds-technology.ltd or by writing to PDS Technology Ltd, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
